P-38 Lightning (2x)

The P-38 was an unconventional design with dual tail booms and a central fuselage nacelle. Due to its long range, it was often used as an escort fighter and reconnaissance aircraft. The two most successful US pilots Bong and McGuire made their kills with the P-38 Lightning. The P-38 gained particular fame when it shot down the supreme commander of the Japanese fleet, Admiral Yamamoto, in his transport plane. 10,037 P-38 were produced.
